Minnesota Baseball Association writes to Gov. Tim Walz asking him to allow amateur baseball in Minnesota. “Once the governor says go, our games can start the next day”-kdhl radio

.
4/18/20, “Minnesota Baseball Association wants Governor to open Baseball,” kdhlradio.com, Faribault, Minnesota, Gordy Kosfeld

The Minnesota Baseball Association Board of Directors had a meeting today and updated their status as currently “closed.” The statement is below:

4/18/2020 MBA Board update regarding the 2020 season

“Currently, the state of amateur baseball is closed. There are no games to be played until further notice. We are not going to play any games until the governor [Tim Walz] opens up baseball.

Once the governor says go, our games can start the next day.

If there are special rules that we have to follow, we will get them to you before the season and posted on the website.

The board is optimistic that we will play baseball.

We will be sending a letter to the governor urging him to open up baseball.”

The MBA had previously requested teams not schedule any games until May 1. The Governor’s current stay at home order goes through May 4.

Most regular season games do not draw massive crowds.  It all depends on what numbers of people the state will allow in one place.

My guess is we will not see any Amateur Baseball games until possibly Memorial Day weekend. Possibly a limit will be made on crowd size too. I hope I’m wrong….

On another note work continues on improvements at Bell Field in Faribault in preparation for the State Amateur Baseball Tournament in 2022.

Last Saturday I stopped by the field to take some updated photos. You can see the grass looked awesome.

I was asked recently asked by a Faribault Lakers fan if the team was planning on getting a new scoreboard for Bell Field before they host the State Tournament.

I see nothing wrong with the current scoreboard.  It’s not fancy with a lot of bells and whistles but has all the essential information a fan needs to watch a game.

Even if there were not a pandemic Faribault High School teams were not going to be allowed to play on the field in April. They had already planned to play their games at Babe Nordmeier Field in Morristown.” images by Gordy Kosfeld

It’s over. Only 10 people in NY City hospitals for virus as of April 13, 2020, NY City government website

It’s over! Only 10 virus patients in NY City hospitals as of April 13, 2020 per NY City government website.

https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page

Covid-19 Data,” NY City Dept. of Health, as of April 15, 2020, 2pm, www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-data.page

Of note, NY City asks people with moderate symptoms not to take tests:

The data presented below reflect the most recent information the Health Department has collected about people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in NYC. We are discouraging people with mild to moderate symptoms from being tested at this time, so the data primarily represent people with more severe illness. All data included below are preliminary and subject to change. This page will be updated daily.” Hospitalization chart below, only 10 virus patients in NYC hospitals as of April 13, current as April 15:

“Daily Counts

This chart shows the number of positive cases by diagnosis date, hospitalizations by admission date and deaths by date of death from COVID-19 on a daily basis since March 3.

As of March 31, the NYC Health Department is now reporting the number of COVID-19 cases by diagnosis date, instead of report date. Diagnosis date is the date that someone went to their doctor and had a swab taken for testing. We were previously using the reported date of infection. Diagnosis date is more reflective of when people are getting sick and being tested.

Due to this change, case counts per day reported previously will not match current daily counts. Information about cases over the last week will be incomplete until the laboratories and hospitals report the results for people who were tested, which can take a few days to a week. Hover over bars to see exact values.”

Added: We should be released immediately, but our jailers would be giving up the dream of a lifetime. The GOP, for example, would like Republican voters to be bound and gagged permanently, forcibly prevented from exercising Freedom of Assembly, unable to demand that Trump’s $2.2 trillion “virus” bill be canceled, among other things: Alex Berenson: “The nice part – for Team Apocalypse, anyway: a “second wave” can come anytime, so it can never be wrong. (Cult leaders learned this trick long ago. Just don’t offer a date and the flock will never lose hope for the end.)”

Virus ends sports, Entercom changes at sports talk station WFAN include John Minko who'll give last WFAN update Friday, April 3 after taking buyout

4/2/20, "John Minko will give last WFAN update Friday after taking buyout," NY Post. Joseph Staszewsk

"Another WFAN original will be signing off. Longtime update man John Minko announced Thursday on Mike Francesa’s Radio.com show that he will be taking a buyout from WFAN’s parent company Entercom because of the economic strain of the coronavirus pandemic. Friday will be the final day for the 67-year-old – nicknamed the “Mink Man” after being part of the fabric of the station for more than three-decades. He started with WFAN when it launched in 1987.

Minko’s exit, which is believed to be voluntary, comes as Entercom informed employees about salary cuts, furloughs and layoffs. Minko also calls St. John’s basketball games for 570 WMCA.

He gained acclaim from his appearances onMike and The Mad Dog" during the 90s and 2000s and became a lovable and knowledge person for the stations’ host to play off of and joke around with."
