Media today have teamed up with all powerful government against the people. In the case of the Libya assassinations, they've shown themselves to be a dangerous enemy of the people-Caddell

9/21/12, "“I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy.” (Pat) Caddell noted that while First Amendment protections were originally provided to the press so they would protect the liberty and freedom of the public from “organized governmental power, they had clearly relinquished the role of impartial news providers.

Nowhere was this more evident than during the tragic death of a U.S. ambassador in Libya that was covered up for nine days [as of 9/21] because the press and the administration did not want to admit it was a terrorist attack.

“We’ve had nine day of lies over what happened because they can’t dare say it’s a terrorist attack, and the press won’t push this, said Caddell. “Yesterday there was not a single piece in The New York Times over the question of Libya. Twenty American embassies, yesterday, are under attack. None of that is on the national news. None of it is being pressed in the papers.”

Caddell added that it is one thing for the news to have a biased view, but “It is another thing to specifically decide that you will not tell the American people information they have a right to know.”

He closed his talk with these words: “The press’s job is to stand in the ramparts and protect the liberty and freedom of all of us from a government and from organized governmental power.

When they desert those ramparts and go to serve—to decide that they will now become an active participants—when they decide that their job is not simply to tell you who you may vote for, and who you may not, but, worse—and this is the danger of the last two weeks—what truth that you may know, as an American, and what truth you are not allowed to know,

they have, then, made themselves a fundamental threat to the democracy, and, in my opinion, made themselves the enemy of the American people.

And it is a threat to the very future of this country if…we allow this stuff to go on, and…we’ve crossed a whole new and frightening slide on the slippery slope this last two weeks, and it needs to be talked about.”"

Ed. note: Facts stated above about the Libyan attacks and how they've been reported or not reported are a matter of public record. They're not opinion. A few reports have attempted to tell the truth but the bulk of reporting for weeks continued to be the anti-Islam movie. NPR did a report with the Libyan president on 9/16 who said the attack was pre-planned. NPR ignored its own reporting from its own reporter in Libya and continued to report 24/7 in their news broadcasts (at least through 9/27) that the cause was a movie. If and when people hear the truth, it won't be delivered to them around the clock for weeks on end. The lie will have become permanent. This doesn't even get into the violence and death caused by continuation of the lie.

This happens in baseball too, where media members "team up" with all powerful owners to effect major events. In this case, Mr. Lupica told the story about another media person (whom he doesn't identify) participating with owners:

12/5/10, "Shame on Yankees for dropping ball and insulting Derek Jeter during heated contract talks," Mike Lupica, NY Daily News

""They wanted it to look, in the more heated parts of this, as though Jeter was the greedy one. They were twitchy to get out there what they said Jeter wanted,
that Jeter wanted $23 million or $24 million a year, whatever the Yankees said he was asking for.
  • Not just delighted. Thrilled.
They thought it made them look good. But you know who has always made them look good? Jeter has. It is Jeter who has honored all the ideas about the Yankees that the Yankees sell, constantly....It was never supposed to matter that the only leaks on this, numbers and everything else, were coming from one side."...

Distrust in media hits all time high, Gallup Poll

9/21/2012, "U.S. Distrust in Media Hits New High," Gallup Poll, L.  Morales

"Americans' distrust in the media hit a new high this year, with 60% saying they have little or no trust in the mass media to report the news fully, accurately, and fairly. Distrust is up from the past few years, when Americans were already more negative about the media than they had been in years prior to 2004."...

------------------------------------------------------------

Following is an example highlighted by John and Suzyn on Yankee radio on 9/21. An invented "story" about Jeter being willing to play for another team left out the question Jeter was asked. I notice the NY Times has an article filed after Sept. 21's game--by which point the reporter could have checked the details surrounding the alleged "story." Either the reporter didn't check or didn't feel it was important enough. The point wasn't as much that it was "a question about Peyton Manning," it was that the question was "if your team told you they didn't want you anymore" like Manning's did...The question was in essence, if you were unemployed, on the street with no job, THEN would you consider going to another team. The NY Times account leaves out that the answer was predicated on Jeter being on the street with no job:

9/21/12, ESPN.com: "Jeter said..."I was asked about Peyton Manning going from Indianapolis to Denver. The question was in reference to if the organization doesn't want you around anymore, do you still want to play? You have no choice but to go to another team. I think it is common sense. But I'm glad you guys had fun with it.""

Derek Jeter laughed off the suggestion that he might have thoughts of playing elsewhere after an ESPN article quoted him as saying he would be open to it. In response to a question about Peyton Manning and whether Jeter might also someday change teams, Jeter told ESPN: “If I wanted to keep playing, yes. It’s a business. People forget that.” On Friday, Jeter maintained he was merely answering a hypothetical question. “I think it’s comical,” he said. “I’ve told you guys time and time again I can’t picture myself playing anywhere else.”"

9/21/12, "Martin Rescues Lead in Extra Innings," NY Times, by Zach Schonbrun

The Times includes part of Jeter's response to media parasites on 9/21 which was that Jeter said he was just answering a hypothetical question but the Times doesn't say what the question was. This example is of course minor compared to others the NY Times has made a few of which I've noted on this blog over several years. The consequences become much more serious in the hard news arena.

Eduardo Nunez home run call from John Sterling. Update, 8/7/2013, Keeps 'Nunie to the moonie'

Update 8/7/13, In the top of the 4th v White Sox, Nunez hit his first home run of 2013. John Sterling kept the same tag he used in 2012 (final in 12, White Sox 6-5) :

"Nunie to the moonie!"
-----------------------------------------

Update, ALCS game 3, Eduardo Nunez hit a home run v Tigers in the top of the 9th, Sterling excitedly described it but without the "Nunie to the Moonie" heard previously. Perhaps it was such a big deal that the Yankees finally got a run the tag wouldn't really have added anything.

Today was Eduardo Nunez' first home run this year, and as John Sterling said, he hit it to left and deep,
  • "Nunie to the Moonie!"
Curtis Granderson was the batter right before Nunez in the bottom of the second, and he hit a home run as well. So after Mr. Sterling called the Nunez home run he observed,
  • "Nunez and Granderson go back to back and belly to belly."
Nunez had 6 Yankee home runs over 2010 and 2011. Final score today v Tampa Bay, 5-3 Yankees.

The victim was working in Lot A about 3:20 p.m. when the attacker, believed to be her boyfriend or former boyfriend, approached with a gun, Kansas City police said.

The gunman shot her once in the abdomen and returned to his car a short distance away, where he shot and killed himself. He died at the scene. The woman was in critical condition and underwent surgery at a hospital.

Both the gunman and victim were in their 40s, police said. They said the victim had a day job and worked at the stadium to supplement her income.

The parking lots were closed temporarily as stadium workers began to arrive for Friday night’s game, but the game was played as scheduled." via Free Republic

Above 9/11/01 photos of people at World Trade Center windows knowing they will die horribly in moments. Following narrative by MSW, posted 9/6/2010: "Then the crowd let out a collective gasp, I looked to see the first of many people falling through the sky. The television stations and the newspapers downplayed this aspect of a day already filled with enough shock and terror, but I place great importance on it because it immediately human-ised the situation for both myself and those around me. This wasn’t just a burning building; it was suddenly full of people, friends, and family. For me, it is the most haunting memory of the day. When I focussed on what the crowd had noticed, I too let out a cry so involuntary and so primeval that I barely recognised it as my own. It was not a piece of building falling to the ground, but a man, recognisable by his flapping tie and flailing arms and legs as he fell through the air. The situation was

surreal no longer; my body shook with shock, my knees buckled and a light-headedness overwhelmed me with such severity that I thought I was either going to throw-up or fall down.

I sat down and looked up only to see more people jumping. I thought for a moment that they might have fallen, but there were too many people, their arms windmilling as they subconsciously tried to fight gravity and avoid the inevitable. Haunted by these visions numerous times since the incident, I have tormented myself by trying to imagine the extreme conditions that those people must have faced that they should choose certain death by leaping from the building over clinging to any hope of rescue. What were they thinking when they jumped; what did they think on the way down?...But my fear is that to forget is to fail the lesson and lose the opportunity. That’s why this raw wound will never completely heal and that things can never go back to ‘normal’. Because even as a simple bystander I have a responsibility to incite change for the rest of my life or I watched all those people die in vain."

John Sterling call of Chris Dickerson home run, his first major league hit in 2012

Update, Sept. 26, 2012, Dickerson 2 run home run in the 6th v Twins, Sterling:
  •  Chris Dickerson "Christens that high wall in right!"
Chris Dickerson's first 2012 Yankee at bat was a 2 run home run in the 2nd observed by John Sterling:
  • "Chris Dickerson Christens the right field seats!"
Sept. 2, 2012 v Orioles at the Stadium, final 8-3 Orioles. Per B-R, Chris had one home run as a Yankee in 2011. I didn't make a note of Sterling's call on that one, it's possible he said the same thing. He definitely said something because Sterling has never missed a game since he started on Yankee radio in 1989. The only note I have for Chris Dickerson in 2011 is as a pinch runner, 5/24/11 v Blue Jays, final 5-4 Yankees:
electrified the crowd with a double to right-center off Frank Francisco. He was given a standing ovation as he was removed for pinch-runner Chris Dickerson, who moved to third on a groundout by Derek Jeter.
Curtis Granderson singled home Dickerson to tie the score, then stole second base before Teixeira singled through the infield, scoring him to make a winner out of Sabathia (5-3).
Teixeira may have been the hero, but he credited Posada’s double with getting things started, saying: “That’s huge. If that doesn’t happen, it may not have ended up the way it did.”"...
