Yankee radio, John, and Suzyn will return to WCBS AM in 2013

8/30/12, "Yankees to Stay Right Where They Are on Radio Dial," WSJ, Barbarisi
  • "The Yankees will remain with their longtime radio station, WCBS-AM 880, for another season, after the team Thursday agreed to terms with the station for 2013. There had been considerable speculation that the Yankees might move to ESPN Radio New York. WCBS also will bring back the broadcast team of John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman."

8/30/12, "Sources: Yankees to stay on WCBS," NY Post, Phil Mushnick

  • "That the Yankees apparently have temporarily spurned a bidding war — ESPN Radio is eager to land Yankees’ or Mets’ radio rights — is curious, given WCBS’s deal, for an unretrievable $12 million-$14 million per season, seemed to place moneyed ESPN Radio in what late Yankees radio man Red Barber called, “The Catbird Seat.”
  • CBS recently began the national CBS Sports Radio Network, and early seems to be throwing a lot of money and energy in its direction."

6/21/12, "CBS to launch national sports radio network - Baltimore's WJZ-FM and AM key players," Baltimore Sun, Zurawik
