Russell Martin gets revised home run call from John Sterling April 9, confirmed 4/23, Updated thru 9/21/12
Update, Sun. Oct. 7th, 2012, ALDS game 1 in Baltimore, Russell hits 9th inning, tie breaking home run. John Sterling gave his usual Russell Martin call but with added enthusiasm befitting its status as a 9th inning tie breaker in the post season. Final 7-2 Yankees:
- "Russell shows muscle! Monsieur Martin est la!"
- "It is high, it is far, it is gone! Ballgame over! Yankees win! Thhhhhe Yankees win!"
- Sterling didn't give the usual, 'Russell shows muscle,' etc., possibly because of the timing and pandemonium involved in this particular home run. Final in 10, 2-1 Yankees.
- Update #5: Tuesday, June 5, 2012, Russell Martin hits grand slam off James Shields, his 4th career regular season. He gets the usual from John Sterling (detail from Suzyn below):
- Update #4, Thursday, August 25, 2011, Russell Martin's Sterling call seems set now, for both his 4th inning and 6th inning home runs got: "Russell shows muscle! Monsieur Martin est la!" The 6th inning home run was a grand slam.
- ---------------
- "Russell shows muscle, Monsieur Martin est la!"
