NY Daily News--Haven't you heard of George Mitchell? How about "The Media Will Push for Joba to Close?"

NY Daily News' Bob Raissman: (You mean, George Mitchell was something other than hand-picked? You mean such arrangements don't occur everyday everywhere else? Why do you care so much?) sm
  • The word "hate" is overused and misused today and Mr. Raissman joins in, same article:
Mr. Raissman is a member of "the media," but he doesn't understand the problem if he thinks it's just a mindless reaction.
  • First, someone hires a media member such as Mr. Raissman. That process isn't vetted by me or anyone I trust. Therefore, I don't assume any media member has the right to speak authoritatively on a given subject. It doesn't involve "hatred," it's just a fact.
Second, if the media has any power it's because an increasingly battered, beaten down and passive citizenry gives it to them. I have animus toward the citizenry for abdicating its power as human beings and for its contribution to a decaying culture. Maybe Mr. Raissman can think about it that way.
  • For example--the "media" openly states its influence over baseball teams. Headline from Rotoworld 10/13/07:
"THE MEDIA WILL PUSH FOR CHAMBERLAIN TO BE PLACED INTO THE CLOSER'S ROLE IF MARIANO RIVERA LEAVES," (10/13/07)
  • Mr. Raissman, what the hell business is it of "the media" to push for any damn thing? Get them the hell away from my team. And get some fans with a backbone who don't accept this crap. (sm)
Another example: Reported 9/21/07, a baseball executive, rival of the Yankees spoke to the NY Post's Joel Sherman about "THE STAGGERING NEGATIVE NOISE FROM MEDIA AND FANS IN NEW YORK..." worse than anything he'd experienced. That would be a start, Mr. Raissman.
