Bob Sheppard retiring after 50 years as voice of NY Giants Stadium; Remains as voice of Yankee Stadium-His Microphone enshrined in Cooperstown in 2000
Bob Sheppard has been the NY Giants public address announcer for 50 years. He never had
a contract, nothing more than a handshake. In addition, he's been the distinctive Yankee Stadium pa announcer for over 40 years, one that you'd probably recognize whether your team played many games there or just a few. His
microphone was enshrined in Cooperstown in 2000. While thankfully his voice will
continue to be heard at Yankee Stadium, eloquently enunciating each player's name, his
duties as pa announcer at NY Giants Stadium will end today (unless the Giants advance
and Bob has a change of heart).
