XM hate speech on Andy Pettitte
Rob Dibble and his co-host are dealing hate today with an agenda that would make Selig happy. Their premise is that Andy Pettitte has been offered $10 million to play for the Yankees in 2009, but he thinks that isn't enough. They say this topic is the biggest news in baseball today, citing a newspaper article. I checked the lengthy newspaper article, well embedded in the middle of it is a brief mention that 'sources' say Pettitte has been offered $10 million but that he is continuing to look elsewhere. I haven't found this offer confirmed or reported anywhere else and no source is named in the newspaper report. Since it's the basis of XM 175's hateful opening program today, it would help to know the source of this news, ie the turning down of $10 million from the Yankees for 2009 by Andy Pettitte.
- Update: 4:16PM Jon Heyman on WFAN with Mike Francesa goes through baseball happenings. No mention of Pettitte until the middle of the report when Francesa asks Heyman about what he thinks Pettitte will do. He says he thinks Andy will probably return to the Yankees, says they offered him $10 million. Did not elaborate, Francesa had no comment, and they went on to the next topic. So, still don't know the source or veracity of the $10 million alleged offer.
