Leo Hindery Jr. among Cubs bidders, worked for Obama campaign
- At least 3 among latest round of Cubs bidders:
- Tom Ricketts, chief executive of InCapital LLC and the son of J. Joe Ricketts, founder of TD Ameritrade Holding Corp.;
- Hersch Klaff, a Chicago real-estate investor;
- and a partnership between two New York private-equity chieftains, Marc Utay of Clarion Capital and Leo Hindery Jr of InterMedia Partners.
- A former CEO of Global Crossing Hindery made $250 million in stock options for less than 1 year's work with the company which eventually went bankrupt.
- That wasn't enough for Hindery. In 2002 Hindery sued the bankrupt Global Crossing for an
- additional $822, 000 (Politico, 2/3/09). Hindery is a political activist having worked
- for the Obama campaign and the John Edwards campaign: "Hindery previously ran the New York Yankees' cable TV channel and AT&T Broadband. He was a senior economic policy adviser to presidential candidate Sen. John Edwards and now advises Sen.
