Why you should never believe what they say

I'll stop bringing this up when the media mafia does so.
  • Hoffman, Regular Season as reliever, 80 HR (1 every 11 IP)
  • Mariano, Regular Season as reliever, 45 HR (1 every 18 IP)
Uh, Tim Sullivan, that's more than a "slight" difference.*****************
  • Hoffman, Regular Season as reliever, 45 WP
  • Mariano, Regular Season as reliever, 9 WP
Just today (10/4), we saw a run score as a result of a wild pitch. That ain't "slight.********"
  • Hoffman, Regular Season as reliever, 2.71 ERA
  • Mariano, Regular Season as reliever, 2.04 ERA
One is 25% lower than the other's. NOT "slight," Tim et al.******************
  • Hoffman, Regular Season as reliever, 49 Wins, 55 Losses
  • Mariano, Regular Season as reliever, 54 Wins, 37 Losses
One guy has more Losses than Wins. Which is fine, unless you're on a team that's expected to WIN. Again, NOT slight, and not worthy of slobbering over by the media mafia, but they do anyway, thinking you'll never bother to look up the stats yourself. Much more to come later.
