Baseball's 1922 anti-trust exemption renders Zell and Cub fans meaningless

Northwest Herald: ""“The last time there was a sale without it being chosen and manipulated by [MLB commissioner] Selig was when Arte Moreno bought the Angels [in 2003],” Hall of Fame writer - and ESPN pundit - Peter Gammons wrote last week....
  • Franchises don't necessarily go to the highest bidder, or even the second-highest bidder.
  • When the Red Sox were for sale a few years ago, the team went to the third-highest bidder - who just happened to be baseball insider John Henry, the owner of the Florida Marlins"....
Cubs fans and Mr. Zell may prefer Mark Cuban but that has no effect on Selig and the Reinsdorfs.
