Mariano Rivera pitched two saves in one day 6 times

Update, May 26, 2010, Rivera pitches 2 saves in one day for 6th time, both 1-run games. "Andy Pettitte Beats Twins, Mariano Rivera Gets 2 Saves in One Day," Daily Skew. The 5/25/10 game was shortened due to rain. It's final 3 innings were played on 5/26. Rivera pitched in the regular 5/26/10 game as well, both saves in 1-run games. ( 2 saves in one day 5 x was noted in a 5/3/07 AP article by Elias). I mention this because it's a measure of durability and doesn't usually show up in stats. This article states it won't show up:

5/27/10, NY Daily News, "Two saves in one day against Minnesota Twins no issue for New York Yankees closer Mariano Rivera," M. Feinsand.

  • --------------------------
2 Saves in One Day has been done 5 times so far by Mariano Rivera, per this AP article (5/3/07), noting Elias for the stat:
  • "Rivera saved two games in one day for the fifth time in his major league career, according to the Elias Sports Bureau, the first since Sept. 29, 2004, against Minnesota. Rivera, who has three saves in five chances this season, pitched a 1-2-3 inning in the opener but allowed a pair of singles leading off the ninth in the second game before striking out Gerald Laird and getting Kenny Lofton to ground into a double play."
From AP, "Rivera Earns 2 Saves in Yankee Sweep (of Texas)," published on SportingNews.com, 5/3/07
