Pursuit of fantasy baseball players by Time Warner

"Time Warner Cable is introducing a new interactive TV feature catering to fantasy baseball fans in 4 markets. The new feature lets users watch any program and get updated stats about their fantasy team on TV, has already been tested in Green Bay, Wis., and is coming out in Austin, Texas; San Antonio; and Columbia, S.C. in the initial launch. BIAP Systems, based in Plano, Texas, is providing the technology for it, called ``Fantasy Baseball Tracker.'' In efforts to differentiate from TV services of satellite and telephone carriers, cable companies are rushing to offer more interactive features. Time Warner Cable, a unit of Time Warner Inc., collaborated with BIAP last year to create interactive features for fantasy football as well for the winter Olympic Games. They also worked together to create an interactive application enabling viewers to track their eBay auctions while watching TV." By AP/Dow Jones wire
