Dellin Betances, Brooklyn pitching prospect

"Betances is a rare specimen: He's an 18-year-old right-handed pitching prospect with a fastball in the mid-90's, a well-developed breaking ball and the intimidating stature of a basketball power forward. That explains the steady parade of scouts who have made their way to Brooklyn this spring, including the dozen or so who stood behind the backstop and watched him pitch a one-hitter, striking out 16 bewildered New Utrecht hitters over seven innings in a first-round Public Schools Athletic League playoff victory in late May. ****Why isn't he a basketball player you ask? Betances distanced himself from that sport after a game against Midwood in his sophomore year. On his way up to block a layup attempt, Betances took an elbow in the face and two of his front teeth were knocked out. Afterward, his father told him that his basketball career was over, whether he liked it or not." From the NY Times UPDATE--Dellin Betances is drafted by NY Yankees, NY DAILY NEWS & I can't wait to see this gentleman.
