Jim Thome has regular season record of walks v Mo

10/5, NY Times: Thome leads in regular season walks v Mo: "Fifteen players have more career plate appearances against Rivera than Thome, yet nobody has as many walks. Thome has eight walks in 22 times facing Rivera. Despite only three hits off Rivera (a single, a double and a 1997 home run), Thome owns him with a .500 on-base percentage.
  • Jeter leads in outs made: As the leadoff hitter for the league’s highest-scoring team, the Yankees’ Derek Jeter led the league in plate appearances, with 739. But he also led in outs made, 515, tied with Juan Pierre of the Chicago White Sox. It was Jeter’s fourth time as the league leader in plate appearances but his first as the leader in outs.

RISP: The Twins led the majors in batting average with runners in scoring position, at .285 — 27 points better than the Yankees. Minnesota’s most dangerous hitter in such situations was the rookie Danny Valencia, who batted .394 with three home runs. The best Yankee with runners in scoring position was Robinson Cano, who hit .322."
