Suzyn Waldman on XM 175 with Joe Castellano

I heard the last couple minutes of Suzyn's interview, maybe it will be replayed sometime. General talk about signings, points out it's a very difficult time to open a new stadium, they have to sign big names to get people to buy tickets. Suzyn thinks Teixeira will end up a Red Sox, that they've had their eye on him awhile. She also said she'd like to see Manny a Yankee, just her opinion.
  • As happened in the Johan Santana situation last year, the media fills up time and space criticizing the Yankees if they don't spend money on big players. Now that they've signed a big player, the media is on board ridiculing them. Joe Castellano uses the giggling device, that is he laughs and giggles about Yankee moves, oh boy all that money ha ha. It's a way some people have of dealing with topics that are unpleasant to them. I didn't hear discussed how much revenue sharing and luxury tax Yankees fans have contributed to other teams or an accounting of how each dollar was spent.
Nor did I hear that dating from 1990, the Yankees did not become #1 in AL attendance until 2003. It took 8 consecutive years in the post season to get a large enough crowd to come out and see the team. If the team loses, people won't go to the stadium. As it is,
