The "save stat" as sales technique
There are many kinds of "saves" and greatly varying situations in which they are "picked up" (the common vernacular), such as pennant races and post season (for the "lucky"). Here, no less than a headline about the "save" as if it's a complete entity. On a given day, it is used to praise some and batter others. A handy stat for certain types. Any late inning reliever's most brilliant work can be assigned to the trash can when the 'save stat' is relied on as exclusively as it is.
