First caller to Francesa on the FAN is Chris Russo

Chris Russo wasn't the first caller to cry on WFAN but was the most moving--until his father, Tony, called. Mike Francesa decided, perhaps on his own, to give Chris a chance to thank the audience and say good bye. Tony Russo, Chris Russo's father, who sounds exactly like Chris, called from Santa Fe a few minutes later. Also cried, asked hesitantly, "Mike...can I still call you?"
  • Compared to the reach of television and its bottom line, radio barely exists. When it does exist, it is done the way Mike Francesa and Chris Russo do it, not because they knew or didn't know a stat. Because they are well-rounded, curious individuals, enjoy reading books on a variety of subjects, can have a conversation with almost anyone about anything. Each is very intelligent and has made my life more interesting.
Update: Mike says the opening of today's show including Russo's call will be replayed both on WFAN and the YES Network at 6PM this evening. Links on WFAN.com.
