Derek Jeter gets hit #2415--ties Mickey Mantle for Regular Season Hits

Bottom of the 9th in tonight's Toronto-Yankee game, Jeter gets hit #2415. It didn't figure in a victory for the team, and even though what he achieves is degraded by Minnesota writers and certain others as "being on a team of rich guys getting it done," he did hit the ball all by himself.

• UPDATE: I should have known this figure does not account for post season hits. Derek has 153 hits in the post season. I'm sure Mantle has a bunch as well.

This stat was given to John Sterling and he read it on Yankee radio. Since it was the bottom of the 9th and he was working solo, I don't fault him for not discussing that it was regular season only. Sterling normally acknowledges relevant Yankee post season contributions.
