Sterling & Waldman sign on to 'mystery' of Indians' ALCS v Boston but don't mention Paul Byrd
The news of Byrd reached the Indians on Friday, Oct. 19 though the Chronicle article didn't appear until Sunday, Oct.21, 2007. John and Suzyn join the army of media who just can't figure out what caused the Indians' fall in the ALCS when they led Boston 3 games to 1. Suzyn says some team members quietly say maybe they were just overwhelmed at the possibility of going to the World Series. Apparently no one remembers the Indians clubhouse was swamped with media at Sunday night's deciding game. (Byrd would not deny still using HGH as he still has a pituitary problem).
- There's no need to bring up the "mysterious" denouement on the broadcast, I'm not suggesting anyone do so. But why bring it up and seriously wonder what in the world could've gone wrong while ignoring the elephant in the living room? At the same time someone who did a fraction of what Byrd did but happens to be a Yankee continues to be criticized 24/7 in the media.
