ANDY, DON'T TALK TO THEM.They think you owe them a living--the 'BOSS SCRIBES'

To Andy Pettitte: From an AP Report tonight: And from one of the "boss baseball scribes" at the NY Times (Jack Curry)(borrowing the term used by NY Daily News' Bob Raissman), more hysteria: ANDY ALREADY ADDRESSED THE MEDIA AND YOU IGNORED HIM. WHO SAYS HE'LL FIELD QUESTIONS FROM YOU? ANY CONTROVERSY ABOUT ANDY PETTITTE IS MEDIA CREATED TO BEGIN WITH.
  • The hubris of the baseball media regarding the Yankees--not necessarily anyone else but the Yankees--knows no bounds. Jack Curry's words are representative:
(Jack Curry, NY Times):"Just because Jeter said it would be a dead issue does not mean it will be."
  • CURRY, SAYS WHO? YOU'RE NOT THE BOSS, YOU DON'T DEFINE THE DAILY DISCOURSE. WHAT YOU MEAN IS YOU'D LIKE ATTENTION FOR YOURSELF. (sm)
Reference, "Torre had also built a reservoir of goodwill with the boss baseball scribes." NY Daily News column by Bob Raissman, 2/8/08.
  • P.S. The current crop of baseball media have chosen a bad way to make a living. That's the bottom line. Our culture has changed to the point where they should not be allowed in any baseball clubhouse. Let them submit questions in other ways, but keep them away from the players. Who's reporting on the reporters and all the guys on sportstalk radio? Are they taking drug and alcohol tests? They have questions to answer themselves.(sm)
