Ratto, San Francisco Chronicle: "Plainly, Don Fehr and Bud Selig have figured out that scouting out Congress ahead of time is a much better way to get through a day in Washington than the old techniques of stammering, blame deflection and gasbagging.

• Based on the assumption that they were going to be kicked around by the Oversight and Government Reform Committee yet again, they danced happily through a day of light questioning, mild and diffused responsibility absorption and heavy back-slapping.

The lesson: It's always good to send in a former U.S. senator to do recon."....
