Fake Callers to Steve Somers' show on WFAN tonight

  • *WELCOME TO THE "CULTURE OF BILE" ON SPORTS TALK RADIO AND THE INTERNET*
A bunch of these callers about Joe Torre tonight are so obviously scripted from the Randy Levine side it's unlistenable (in my opinion), yet Steve Somers lets them go on, responds that he greatly respects their view, etc. They're claiming to be Yankee fans, but say things like they side with "the Yanks on this one,"***citing Joe Torre's lack of "heart" and in one case "manhood"(of all screwy things) for failing to accept the obvious non-offer he received. This is what I object to--someone thinks baseball fan listeners are stupid enough to believe this garbage. If you want to say it was just time for sides to go their separate ways that's one thing. Mike and Chris don't let obvious shills go on and on for hours, or at least help the caller finish their point. But tonight's fake anti-Joe Torre drama afforded by Steve Somers shows you the state of the media--no one cares enough to do anything about it so he gets away with it. This is sportstalk radio as background music. I mean Somers could've at least helped them speed up their endless speeches.
  • ***The caller who delivered this phony phrase on WFAN deserves an Oscar for his performance... "I side with the Yanks on this one." Who exactly is "the Yanks" tonight? From top to bottom, you have little if any idea. Peter Gammons even said Levine himself isn't expected to be around long.
P.S. The callers could easily have been friends of Somers', too.
