Andy Pettitte might consider finishing in the Bronx--We hope you do, Andy

ANDY, WE'D LOVE TO HAVE YOU BACK!! Bill Madden in today's NY Daily News says word is Andy Pettitte might agree to finish his career as a Yankee. Andy, if we did little more than thank you for what you've already done, I'd feel a hell of a lot better after having seen you leave the way you did 3 years ago.
  • From Bill Madden's column:

"Assuming Cashman re-signs Mussina, his most likely foray into the free-agent market would not be for any of the above, but rather old friend Andy Pettitte, who apparently has made it known he would be inclined to finish his career as a Yankee.'

  • and Bill says ix-nay on Arod for Ervin Santana...

'As for trading for top-of-rotation starters, it's not going to be easy since nobody is inclined to deal other than the White Sox, whose starters are all tainted by last year's declines in efficiency. One of the reasons the Yankees have backed off from entertaining ideas of trading Alex Rodriguez is word out of Anaheim that the Angels are no longer willing to trade No. 2 starter Ervin Santana.'

  • If Andy Pettitte were back in Yankee Stadium, I might break my rule about never buying tickets for MLB, Inc. events. We were devastated when he left.

  • Andy needs to to come back to the Bronx. He's a Yankee and I'm not sure how good it feels to retire as an Astro.
