CHAIRMAN MAO: "BASEBALL IS A BOURGEOIS INDULGENCE FOR THE RICH."

(That's still the case with Selig, DuPuy, Inc.) From the Reuters story today,
  • "Chairman Mao banned baseball in China in the 1960s, calling it a bourgeois indulgence of the rich, but DuPuy said it was only a matter of time before a Chinese player blazed a path to the majors.
(Communist) China could soon emulate Japan by hosting Major League Baseball games -- half a century after the sport was banned in the country by Chairman Mao.

MLB officials are anxious to unearth baseball's version of Yao Ming before (Communist) China hosts the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

"Our goal is to open the season in (Communist) China -- with regular-season games -- in the very near future," MLB president Bob DuPuy told Reuters on Thursday."

  • HEY, DU PUY & SELIG--YOU BETTER GIVE EVERYBODY STEROIDS--THE WAY YOU WANT TO BLEED THE PLAYERS DRY, PLAYING THEM 12 MONTHS A YEAR, FLYING ALL AROUND THE WORLD IN A BRUTAL SCHEDULE, HOW COULD ANY PLAYER SURVIVE WITHOUT STEROIDS, ESPECIALLY THE PRECIOUS PITCHERS WHOM I'M SURE WILL BE THE FIRST ONES YOU'LL GRAB.
from Reuters story by Alastair Himmer, 11/2/06 (P.S. I put the parentheses ( ) and inserted the word Communist because that's what it is. I'm not a tool for every media creation that comes down the pike, thanks anyhow).
