Jeter may not start Red Sox series--hand injured by struggling Rodrigo Lopez

Jeter's x-rays show the hand isn't broken, but bruised and heavily bandaged. The Orioles' pitcher who appeared to throw directly at Jeter, had been struggling most of the season. Lopez was one of several O's pitchers who donated their services on the team's and fans' behalf to the WBC. He was quoted in the Washington Post in May saying he would not pitch for the next WBC (should one be held in 2009).
