Ken Rosenthal, voter, on XM, & predictions
Ken thinks the "voting process is fine, if you start changing the process you disrupt it." Writers
don't have connections to teams, aren't paid by them. But, that's only 1 aspect. Do Boston Globe
writers vote? Their paper owns 17% of a team (Red Sox). How many other newspapers also own
parts of baseball teams? Charley elicits that it's the HOF that doesn't want to release ballots. Even
though Ken & other individual writers do so, the HOF maintains a "secret society." Not for long,
guys. As did Tim Kurkjian, Ken says if you look at the veterans' committee voters, we look great,
because they can't agree on anything. That fact doesn't change the problem. Ken mentions Miguel
Tejada doesn't have a no-trade clause, thinks Jeff Weaver will do well.
