Another cheap headline that misses the point badly
Here's the latest hate-inducing headline about revenue sharing, predictably showing a picture of
George Steinbrenner on the teaser page. The opening salvo of the Fox.com article
grabs everyone who wants to hate. Or, who doesn't have the time or inclination to read
much about the subject---or even to the end of the article. Because, even if they make
it to the end of this article, they'll finally find a small mention of the bigger
problem---you have no idea what's being done with these financial gifts to other teams. You don't address how to solve this, you don't
even have a real desire to solve this. SOME OWNERS TODAY HAPPILY PUT THIS MONEY IN THEIR POCKET. DON'T YOU THINK IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM FIRST,
INSTEAD OF JUST GIVING THEM MORE AND MORE MONEY? I guess that would be harder than
throwing out another headline grabber about Steinbrenner and the Yankee payroll. There is meaningful information available on this subject, but most writers like this one at Fox.com overlook it
and go for the cheap, hate-grabbing headline.
