Sal Licata out at WFAN-Neil Best, Bob's Blitz
6/16: "WFAN operations manager Mark Chernoff just confirmed to me that Mike Francesa's board operator, Sal Licata, is "no longer at the station."
- Chernoff declined to comment on the reason Licata was let go.
Bob's Blitz broke the story this afternoon here, then came back with this followup.
- He also reports that Mia Harris has left the FAN." from Neil Best Watchdog
As a listener I got the impression Mike Francesa really liked Sal. Bob's Blitz reports that Francesa did try to save Licata from getting the ax, but apparently he had said something to offend a sponsor. ed.
- Of interest, the sponsor in question is said to be Connecticut School of Broadcasting, which I hope and trust is a successful concern. I noted this article about it from March 5, 2009, "Connecticut School of Broadcasting Shuts down" from WHDH TV. photo below from WHDH TV article. Sal Licata is not mentioned in the article, just thought it was of general interest. ed.
