Yankee radio flagship WCBS continues ratings roll
5/25: In April Arbitron ratings: "The opening of baseball season was...good to WCBS-AM (880), which carries the Yankees. WCBS-AM, which was already on a roll, zipped up to fourth place overall, while all-news sister WINS (1010 AM) slipped a bit and ended up out of the top 10 for the first time in several years.
- WFAN, boosted by the opening of the Mets' season, had a 50% increase in its overall audience share from March to April. It also finished first among men 25-54, one of those hard-to-reach groups that sports radio targets.
WFAN also averaged four times the audience share of its sports-radio rival, WEPN (ESPN Radio, 1050 AM), which undoubtedly probably increases the ongoing desire of ESPN to find a stronger signal, preferably on FM."...
- "Lite tops list of radio stations among 25-54 year olds," Hinckley, NY Daily News, 5/25
