'Radio Men Paint Pictures for Fans'

"They're the radio voices of Lee County's two Major League Baseball teams, men whose combined service will hit 50 seasons this year.

• Joe Castiglione and John Gordon are broadcast pros whose voices are known across large regions of America, one in New England and the other in the upper Midwest.

Each has witnessed his team win two World Series. Each resides in a gated community near Daniels Parkway. Each joined his team in the 1980s.Castiglione is about to begin his 27th season with the Boston Red Sox. Gordon will soon begin his 23rd season with the Minnesota Twins....

• Castiglione also picked up the baseball bug as a boy. In his book, "Broadcast Rites and Sites, I Saw It on the Radio with the Boston Red Sox," Castiglione wrote about his baseball origins."Dad taught me to read the baseball box scores before my ABCs," Castiglione wrote.
