Wind turbines made by GE scheduled to blight land near Imus ranch
Teddy Kennedy was able to keep them from marring his view. Others may not have that privilege:
- "A Chicago-based energy company has signed a two-year option on more than 7,000 acres of state trust land atop a San Miguel County mesa for a potential wind farm.
However, some residents oppose Invenergy’s plan to place up to 50 wind turbines on the mesa that borders radio shock jock Don Imus’ ranch off Interstate 25 near Bernal.
- Each turbine, made by General Electric, can produce up to 1.5 megawatts of electricity, enough to power about 400 homes a year.
Bill Madison, who owns a vineyard just east of the mesa, said he’s opposed to large turbines disturbing views. He said some neighbors are worried about a low level of noise the turbines might produce."
- A Land Office spokesperson said surrounding communities have opposed wind farms.
