The Greening of Red Sox Nation (Boston, MA)
In April, the Boston Red Sox and NRDC were honored with the U.S. EPA's Environmental Merit Award for their initiatives to green Fenway Park and its practices. As one of the first teams to pilot Major League Baseball's new Team Greening Program - launched in collaboration with NRDC - the Red Sox are showing results in transforming their 96-year-old historic ballpark into a modern, green, environmentally-friendly place. By saving energy, reducing waste and making the organization and the stadium run more efficiently, these unprecedented efforts are a win-win-win for the environment, the bottom line and for fans all around.
On November 19, Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) invites you to join representatives from the Boston Red Sox and
- NRDC's Allen Hershkowitz, senior scientist*** and coordinator of the organization's greening initiatives,
- ***Dr. Allen Hershkowitz (NRDC senior scientist) sounds impressive until you find his degrees aren't in health or biological sciences at all. They are in politics and money:
- "He received his Ph.D. in political economics from the City University of New York Graduate School in 1986, specializing in energy resources economics;
- an M. Phil in political economics in 1982;
- a B.A. (cum laude) from the City College of New York in 1978, and; a Certificat D’assiduite from the University of Grenoble in 1975."
