Bob Ryan notes Rivera entered Saturday's game v the Red Sox at 499 'saves' combined regular and post season.

• Having earned another by game's end, the total is now 500. For those into that. (Not counting 3 All Star 'saves.'). Mr. Ryan is the first major writer I've seen able to combine Mo's most difficult post season saves along with his regular season saves at one time: "But a guy doesn't register 499 combined regular and postseason saves by whining about circumstances."
