WFAN--"Yankee fans aren't upset about this."

Mike Francesa notes this after hearing fans call in-- he had been big on getting Santana. Perhaps he's been watching the YES Network. Chris Russo says the deal would make their hated rivals even better, but notes fans don't seem too upset about it. Chazz Palminteri called in and he wants Santana, but most other callers said they're happy to keep their young players. The Yankees' have many rivals/nightmares, not just the Red Sox.
  • Now Francesa defends Santana's substandard post season performances by highlighting how great he was in the regular season, and that most brilliant pitchers have shown the same kind of record. I'm a big fan of Mike's but his line of reasoning on this guy is unusual for him.
P.S. I was just thinking, if the Yankees had known Pettitte was coming back and had never offered Hughes, then Kennedy, Melky and one prospect not named Horne or Jackson might be defensible. But once they put Phil Hughes in there, they'd given too much.
