Mark Feinsand on XM with Charley Steiner shows grasp of reality

Re: the latest on "the topic of the day," (Cashman's euphemism from yesterday), Feinsand on XM recognizes reality better than Sweeny Murti's concurrent report on WFAN. Murti was introduced as having "news" and said the Yankees now think Santana will go to the Red Sox for Lester, Crisp and 2 prospects. Mike and Chris don't treat it like a done deal but don't question it much, think the Red Sox will have made a steal.
  • Mark Feinsand on XM says that's the current rumor but he doesn't give it much credence. He also cites the following about Ian Kennedy: Yankee fans have seen him on the field in a pennant race they were about to lose. The kid Kennedy thrown in a must-win game and did very well.
P.S. Mike Francesa again says, "I like the role reversal, it's kind of fun," assuming the Red Sox get Santana. Meaning the Yankees will be the underdogs, Red Sox will have stars and huge payroll.

  • I don't trade Hughes period. But unlike Mike F. I think the only time being the under dog is fun is when your team has been bad and becomes good agian, I don't think you design your team to be the underdog on purpose.

    Minnesota does that.

  • I agree with your distinction on the underdog role--it's fun if your team has actually been a dog or if you're a team with a bad owner like Pohlad. It might've worked if they hadn't offered Hughes, but once they'd done that it was too late. Francesa really wanted Santana a lot.
