Obscenity at Jets games ruins sports environment--NY Times

  • If this isn't your limit, including children observing depraved behavior, what is? Jets' attendees SPITTING ON WOMEN? How about the passivity of parents who produce these animals AND THE NJ AUTHORITIES WHO SAID THEY'D STOP IT BUT DID VIRTUALLY NOTHING:
NY Times: "The gantlet of abuse continued during halftime of the Jets’ game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday at Giants Stadium, with hundreds of men chanting obscenities at a handful of women in the crowd to expose their breasts. Only this time, there were more fans and more security personnel at Gate D, where the harassment occurred, than there were the last time the Jets played at home.
  • By the time halftime was under way, the security staff, which had grown noticeably, was vastly outnumbered. Then the vulgarity began as fans, 12 deep in some spots, urged women to show their breasts. Some tossed plastic beer bottles or cigarettes into the center of the spiral, which was blocked off by a chain-link fence. A few children witnessed the unruly behavior, which, according to several fans and stadium workers, has been a ritual at Jets games for years.

The scene was similar to the one at Gate D of the Jets’ previous home game, reported in The New York Times on Nov. 20. In that game, against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Nov. 18, at least one woman bared her breasts.

  • Men spit at women who did not comply. The few security guards present did not intervene.

Last month, the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority, a state agency that provides security at Giants Stadium, and Richard J. Codey, the president of the New Jersey Senate, vowed to crack down on the harassment.

****AND THIS FINAL PASSIVE, HOPELESS QUOTE, NOT FOLLOWED UP BY THE TIMES REPORTER IS THE SIGN OF OUR POINTLESS LIFE TODAY:****

  • "“What can the cops really do?” said Tom Woznicki, a 21-year-old from Torrington, Conn. “Kick everybody out?”"

From NY Times article by David Picker, "Gate D: More Fans, More Security, More Abuse," 12/10/07

  • The point is people have been taught to be wimps, don't care, won't defend themselves about anything, and have been taught they should just sit and wait to be maimed or harmed. Such as the kids who died at Virginia Tech--no one thought they should defend themselves.
