Yanks ask Cashman for long term deal--he says later--Heyman, SI

Jon Heyman mentioned this on WFAN with Mike and Chris. Here's the SI.com article he filed:

"I am not thinking about personal stuff. I am trying to do the job,'' Cashman told SI.com. "I consider myself a Yankee. I have received no offers, and there are no negotiations going on.''

  • But if there are no talks, that's Cashman's call. Yankees people say they love Cashman and want him to remain a Yankee for years to come. And he suggested he's amenable to discussing it in time."....
From SI.com article by Jon Heyman, "Yankees look to sign Cashman long-term," 12/6/07
  • P.S. I prefer Cashman to Hank and Hal. They seem pre-occupied with football. Hank made reference to the Patriots in the write-ups today. At the Torre firing press conference, Hal's few words included reference to Vince Lombardi. Also, they are from Tampa and have been influenced by the unpleasant kitchen cabinet. (sm)
