Opinion and Entertainment with Michael Kay on ESPN 1050AM
- Bob Raissman wonders about Michael Kay's ESPN Radio NYC show Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2007:
"Why was Michael Kay treading lightly on Alex Rodriguez and jolly-stomping Joe Torre? That is the question a caller to Kay's ESPN-1050 Tuesday soiree asked.
- The inquiry agitated Mr. Kay.
"There are things about Joe Torre, if I wanted to come out and say, would show how cold and calculated he really is," Kay fumed. "... Joe Torre is for Joe Torre. ... The graveyard of Yankees coaches is loaded with bones of coaches Joe Torre did nothing about."
- ....Through Torre's 12-year Yankees career, Torre and Kay - it is fair to say - were not on the same page."
- P.S. This isn't new info to many, but funny how Michael Kay is becoming more of a shock jock--more an entertainment outlet for his employer, ESPN. I've posted before I heard Michael Kay criticize Joe Torre on television, but I believe it was when MSG still aired Yankee games (much preferable to YES Network to this day). Kay was carrying a torch for Showalter and said on tv that time would show Showalter was a better manager than Torre. (sm)
