Claire Smith calls in to Mike & Chris on WFAN re: Imus

Claire says the media was slow to react to Imus' remarks and it was actually the persistence of a woman in the Philadelphia area that caused the matter to gain wide attention. Claire's acquaintance made numerous phone calls over a period of time to encourage response. (Most are aware Claire is Assistant Sports Editor of the Philadelphia Inquirer). She said she's been a frequent listener of Imus mainly for the guests but won't listen to him in the future. That's the option available to everyone. Aside from the remarks, I agree with Howard Stern on Imus' reaction. He doesn't need to act like a kid who's been rebuked during his first year on the job. Imus needs to beg for nothing. The critics are often the ones who lack civility.
