Minneapolis guy, Bob Nightengale on XM

In response to a question posed by Charley Steiner about a Hall of Fame voter who won't vote for anyone who played in the 90's, Bob shows his true nature and character by saying things like:
  • "Uhhh, the Hall of Fame is a secret ballot."
And, if a writer makes his votes known,
  • His "newspaper will probably get a lot of phone calls."
On an earlier interview, first-time voter Ken Davidoff suggested about the ballot of the anti-90's voter (who's now catapulted to international celebrity):
  • "Jack O'Connell should revoke his ballot."
It's good to see Davidoff views the process differently than most. Most view it as a way of propping up the job status of a lowly, unhappy group of copywriters. Nevertheless, I wonder why Davidoff chose O'Connell's name--he's not the President of the BBWAA, nor of the HOF, nor of MLB, Inc., or even of Disney/ESPN. (Nightengale's cruelest jab was saying he "voted for 6 or 7 guys," WHEN ASKED BY CHARLEY STEINER. He then in mumbling fashion dashed off 6 names, then hesitated, so we'll NEVER KNOW. YOU GOT THE POWER, NIGHTENGALE).
  • P.S. WHEN YOU LIVE IN A COMMUNIST STATE, THERE'S ONLY 1 WAY OF DOING THINGS, THEREFORE WHOEVER'S IN CHARGE HAS AN APPARENT 100% SUCCESS RATE TO BRAG ABOUT. (OF COURSE, YOU DON'T GET TO SEE THE BOOKS AND FIND OUT WHAT'S REALLY GOING ON). HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM THE SICKENING PARADE OF AWARDS AND SYCOPHANTIC WHINING ABOUT HOW BUD SELIG SHOULD
GET SO MUCH MORE CREDIT THAN HE DOES, GOSH GOLLY? SELIG ABOLISHED SEPARATE LEADERSHIP OF NATIONAL AND AMERICAN LEAGUES, AND MADE HIMSELF THE SOLE AND SUPREME AUTHORITY. JUST AS IN A COMMUNIST STATE. OF COURSE CERTAIN THINGS GET DONE--THERE'S NO ONE STOPPING HIM.
