News of the Matsuzaka bid--MLB, Inc. awards prize to a reporter

News of the Japanese pitcher's bid was supposedly under lock and key. But, now we hear MLB, Inc. has chosen to tell secret information to one particular reporter. Is this illegal? Is the psyche of baseball fans so anemic they'll overlook this? Does a baseball fan have any boundaries or limits?
  • This was a big prize MLB, Inc. gave to the reporter. For free? No. Do you think for one minute they would've chosen someone without quid pro quo? The guy can be counted on to report what they want him to report.
