New group to run Staten Island Yankees---Levine: prior operations "poor"

Levine was critical of the previous group that operated the farm team, run by Josh and Stanley Getzler.
  • "The operations ran poorly," Levine said, "and weren't up to the standards of the New York Yankees."The team, which started play in the ballpark in 2001, averaged 3,393 fans for 34 home dates, eighth in the 14-team league. The New York Mets' Brooklyn Cyclones were first in attendance, averaging 7,819 for 37 dates.
  • "According to our contract, we are not permitted to speak about out partners," Josh Getzler said, "only that we loved our time in Staten Island, worked as hard as we could, {When will people stop using this phrase as a soppy excuse?sm} loved our fans and staff and wish the team much success." ...
    • In addition to Old-Timers Day in the Bronx, the Yankees will hold one in Staten Island starting next year.
