GUILLERMO MOTA SUSPENDED 50 GAMES

Announced on XM by Charley Steiner, Guillermo Mota has been suspended 50 games for violation of the MLB drug prevention and treatment program. The penalty will take effect at the beginning of the 2007 season. Mota is a free agent. Kevin Kennedy later mentions Mota's use was probably related to abating the injuries he's had rather than to add power to his pitches.
