IT WAS GARY SHEFFIELD
From any aspect--
- The ill-fitting, highly-paid mercenary who was a problem even when he was a regular team member.
- The beginning of a spirit, of life that evolved in the team this year was completely broken when Sheffield inserted himself into the situation at the last minute.
- Who knows what pressure was brought on Torre, Cashman or anyone else to put this guy in the lineup.
- It's difficult enough to have a team feeling with all the media attention there. KEEP THE MEDIA OUT OF THE CLUBHOUSE. WHAT DO THEY DO FOR THE YANKEES ANYWAY? NOTHING--IN FACT, THEY'RE VERY HARMFUL.
- NEVER PATRONIZE A FOX TV ADVERTISER. The people they put on this game were typical of Fox Sports--low class, ill mannered, ill informed. They even came up with the old line about how "you can't win with a team of sluggers." What BS. THE TIGERS HAD SLUGGERS AND THEY SEEM TO HAVE SUFFERED THROUGH IT YOU MORONS.
- I felt very badly for Joe Torre in his post game interview. He cares a great deal.
- I also have opinions on other aspects of the game, but these came first.
- My favorite image of the season (as reported): Jason Giambi taking Arod out to the barn in Boston and telling him "in a profanity-laced speech" that they didn't bring him here and pay him all this money "for bleeder hits and walks."
