Check your Derek Jeter files--Fox gets it wrong--Raissman
Joe Buck and Tim McCarver mailed it in [on the Saturday Mets-Yanks game.]
Maybe the heat got to the broadcasters, but - in contrast to most of their outings - Buck and McCarver displayed little energy, limited focus and bland analysis. Neither of them seemed to want to be at Yankee Stadium.
McCarver, in the third inning, offered evidence his head was not in the game. After Derek Jeter fielded a Jose Reyes grounder in the hole and executed one of his jump throws to to nip the Mets shortstop at first, McCarver credited "(Jason) Giambi with a nice scoop (at first)." Problem was Andy Phillips was playing first Saturday. The Giambalco was the DH. During multiple replays T-Mac did not correct himself, nor did Buck credit Phillips with the scoop. by Bob Raissman, NY Daily News, July 4, 2006
