The people mocking you with the "Saves" stat
The 'Saves' stat has Trevor, his pals, MLB, ESPN thought police, & many others who plan to rob
you of your money & your time--laughing hysterically. It's currently used in fraudulent ways to
- Make certain people like Trevor look better than they are
- To disguise or mislead you from seeing the best performers.
- But, I consider it a personal victory that Baseball Musings posted an original stat last night immediately after BJ Ryan's appearance---about MULTI-INNING SAVES!!!!
- For years sites like this have dismissed closers as 1 inning pitchers, & I politely post reminders that Mariano Rivera has been used for more than 1 inning for the past 11 consecutive years of regular season and post season late inning relief. I've been completely ignored---no one cared that it would take an entire other human being to do what he does--but acknowledging that would threaten Trevor Hoffman, Dennis Eckersley, & other guys with heavy media influence. (Rollie Fingers would not be in this group--I've heard his comments, he's confident in his own achievements, & recognizes Mariano's).
- But lo & behold, the MULTI INNING STAT PUT DOWN MARIANO!!! It manipulated the data in such a way that several others look better than he does!!! I left a comment about this including information that better represented the achievement.
- Did Baseball Musings tell you that 4 of BJ Ryan's so-called 'saves' were only one third of an inning & that Mariano had none of these 'cheap' saves, & that the Blue Jays had 2, 3 or 4 run leads in these 1 out appearances that qualified the same as a more difficult save?
- NO. BECAUSE THIS STAT IS A POLITICAL AND MONEY MAKING MACHINE FOR THE POWER BROKERS, IT'S A FRAUD, HAS NO GUIDELINES, NO OVERSIGHT, AND WASTES ALL OF OUR TIME & MAKES A JOKE OF REAL BASEBALL ACHIEVEMENT.
