Physician is also baseball expert @ Baseball Prospectus----Rany Jazayerli joins Jeff Erickson on XM

Rany Jazayerli discusses the "Scoresheet" method of fantasy baseball. You've got a lot of geniuses in this business---there must be something to it. Notes differences between Stratomatic & Scoresheet, the latter being what players do in real life. Also,
  • Best pitchers in the AL will be best pitchers in Scoresheet, which is not so in Roto
  • Final results (wins, saves) in Rotisserie don't always correlate with players' abilities
  • Still are differences about ways to measure defensive abilities
  • Rany's focus is up the middle--his draft so far includes 2 ss's. He & Jeff agree the 2001 Diamondbacks are an excellent example of a Scoresheet draft.
  • I believe both agreed that Luis Castillo is the best defensive 2B.
  • Jeff's patron saint is Rafael Betancourt.
I read that Rany is a long-time Royals fan, in addition to being a physician & Baseball Prospectus author.
