"Fantasyland" author Sam Walker joins Jeff Erickson on XM
This Wall Street Journal sports writer took time off from his regular gig to dive into the baseball
fantasy world, & there's been quite some buzz about it. Our host Jeff Erickson is
mentioned numerous times in the book. Sam spent a lot of money on research, but also
gained access to dugouts, clubhouses, & managers' offices. His advice is to focus on
the particulars of your league, then focus on player research. There are some funny
but scary aspects to this whole thing---he mentions covering Mo Vaughn, then a Met &
not doing too well. Mo tells him many of his pals have him on their fantasy team,
are peeved about him screwing up, & are calling him about it all the time on his cell phone. In the 2nd half of the show, Jeff mentions that he'd take Blalock or Ensberg over Beltre. Jeff intro'd his show with a great rock & roll tune, "It's Just a Fantasy," which sounded like Billy Joel. Anyhow, it was appreciated.
