Lawr Michaels joins Jeff Erickson on Fantasy Focus on XM

Jeff & Lawr discuss recent league draft picks, both are high on Jeremy Hermida. Michaels is known for his list of top 250 prospects, & is often found at creativesports.com. He mentions payroll differences separating the D-Rays from other teams in their division, saying he just doesn't know what can be done. I'll give him a suggestion--first, all teams getting revenue sharing must show how it was spent. Second, don't allow teams to make bad lease deals as the Marlins & Twins did. Third, don't allow the MLB commissioner to be a team owner or a former team owner. Fourth, check out the net worth of many owners who won't spend a penny of it on their team & complain to them. It just isn't helpful to see it as a 1-issue situation, ie one team has money, one doesn't. The bad owners love it---it gets them more money in their pocket & takes the focus off them doing a crummy job. And, of course, it's easier. Anyhow, the D-Rays have been great to watch, have some terrific players, & were nightmares for several other teams.
