Lawr Michaels joins Jeff Erickson on XM

Jeff & Lawr wish the Giants would consider the available Carlos Pena as an easy upgrade over Lance Niekro at 1B. On the Red Sox, Jeff says Kevin Youkilis may be moved over to 3B if Mike Lowell continues to struggle. Lawr is with creativesports.com. I wish someone would ask about starting Brian Bannister over Aaron Heilman. Tomorrow-- BASEBALL PROSPECTUS authors on Fantasy Focus.

  • I'll bring up the Mets' rotation tomorrow. Your thoughts on Heilman vs. Bannister?

  • Heilman's wish to start is well known.
    The rest of my knowledge is unscientific, except that he has bailed the Mets out often, impressively, uniquely, energetically,
    & with heart. He's no doubt invaluable
    & irreplaceable to their bullpen, or
    any bullpen--I'd love to have him. But
    now along comes a guy who's never pitched in the majors, & they start him, Bannister. I don't know what goes
    on at the Mets, but Peterson didn't
    like Jae Seo, so they dumped him--
    mistake. I believe they've always
    underappreciated Heilman, plus I've
    read that someone screwed around with his mechanics there, causing him to backslide for awhile last year before they let him go back to
    what had brought him success before.
    I could go on, but I'll just add, how about that Bronson Arroyo?
